Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Daren Tang

On March 23, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang, who is on a visit to China.

Miao Deyu stated that under the current international situation marked by turbulence and transformation, President Xi Jinping has formally put forward the Global Governance Initiative, providing important guidance for reforming and improving the global governance system, including intellectual property governance. This year marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period. China will focus on promoting high-quality development, expanding high-standard opening up, and fostering an open innovation ecosystem with global competitiveness. China stands ready to strengthen strategic coordination with WIPO, deepen cooperation across the board, and help create an international environment conducive to innovation and development.

Daren Tang congratulated China on its achievements in scientific and technological innovation and intellectual property, spoke highly of China's contributions to upholding multilateralism and advancing international cooperation on intellectual property, and thanked China for its support for WIPO. He expressed readiness to further deepen practical cooperation with China.
