Statement from the Macomb County Department of Roads regarding the work zone tragedy in Branch County

The following statement can be attributed to Bryan Santo, Director, Macomb County Department of Roads (MCDR) regarding the fatality of Branch County Road Commission road professional Casey Rice:

With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of fellow road professional, Casey Rice, a dedicated public servant with the Branch County Road Commission. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and our colleagues during this difficult time.

This heartbreaking tragedy serves as a solemn reminder of how fragile life can be and the daily risks faced by road crews across our state. We honor and remember those who have lost their lives while performing their duties. Road professionals play a vital role in keeping our communities connected and safe. It's everyone's responsibility to ensure we all get home safely.
