Forbes ranks New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) top 50 in the U.S. among public universities for 2026.
At No. 41, NJIT jumped 47 places from last year. In addition, NJIT is No. 101 on Forbes' list of America's Top Colleges, up 92 notches from last year. That ranking places NJIT in the top 20% of all the universities and colleges that made the list.
Forbes also recognized NJIT's work as an R1-classified research institution, ranking it No. 74 among Research Universities, up 64 places from last year.
Statewide, NJIT shined as well, as No. 2 among public universities in N.J. and No. 3 among all universities in the state.
The latest distinctions come after Forbes ranked NJIT No. 13 among the Best Employers in N.J. - the highest of any university or college in the state and fourth-highest among employers headquartered in the state.
