Smithfield Foods Donates $30,000 to Luter Family YMCA to Support Teen Leadership and Development Programs

SMITHFIELD, Va., April 29, 2025 - Smithfield Foods presented a $30,000 donation to support the YMCA's essential programs and services to families, children and individuals in the Isle of Wight community as part of the Luter Family YMCA's annual Healthy Kids Day celebration on April 26.

Jenifer Byrd, senior vice president and corporate treasurer of Smithfield Foods, presented the check to Ana Mae Morrow, executive director of the Luter Family YMCA, joined by families, staff and volunteers.

"Smithfield Foods is committed to strengthening our communities and supporting the next generation of leaders," said Byrd. "We're proud to contribute not just financially, but also with our time and talent."

This substantial contribution is part of a partnership between Smithfield Foods and the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas, focused on empowering young people and preparing teens for life through leadership training, service learning and character development.

The YMCA's teen development efforts are centered around the Leaders Club, a program designed to help teens cultivate essential leadership skills and build a sense of social responsibility.
