South Boston is celebrating a local champion. A resolution offered by Councilor Flynn was adopted to rename the West Broadway Community Garden in honor of Kimberly Parker, a longtime South Boston resident, property manager, and tireless advocate for inclusive community spaces.
For four decades, Parker was a trusted leader at West Broadway Homes and played a central role in developing the community garden. She worked to ensure the space was welcoming and accessible for all residents, including seniors, people with disabilities, and young families, while fostering long-term sustainability and neighborhood engagement.
The resolution recognizes Parker's dedication to equity, social justice, and inclusive participation, noting that the garden's success stands as a lasting testament to her advocacy and leadership. Renaming the garden in her honor will celebrate her enduring impact on South Boston's community life.
