Press release No. 7 19.01.2026

Drone strike against the Ukrainian Ports on the Danube

On Sunday, January 18th, at around 01:15, the Ministry of National Defence radar surveillance system identified a group of aerial drones of the Russian Federation operating in the Ukrainian airspace, approximately 10 km north of the border with Romania.

Two F-16 fighter jets from the 86th Air Base in Fetești were given order to prepare for an aerial monitoring mission. As a result of the targets disappearance from radar, the mission was canceled after approximately 10 minutes, the aircraft remaining on the ground.

The population in northern Tulcea County was warned via RO-Alert message at 01:21. The alert state ended at 01:40.

No unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace were observed.

Since the beginning of the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine, over 70 drone attacks have been reported near the Romanian border.
