Dmitriy Kobitskiy and Secretary-General of Council of Representatives of National Assembly of Kingdom of Bahrain Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sisi Al-Buainain Held Meeting in Manama

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy and Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Bahrain Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sisi Al-Buainain held a meeting in Manama.

The parties discussed issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the CIS Member States and Asian countries. Special attention was given to the exchange of experience in the field of lawmaking.

The interlocutors underscored the importance of parliamentary dialogue as a tool for strengthening international cooperation and promoting democracy.

During the meeting, the participants also considered opportunities for joint work in the areas of cybersecurity and the regulation of artificial intelligence. Dmitriy Kobitskiynoted that the Assembly regularly hosts counter-terrorism conferences, where parliamentarians and experts discuss ways to prevent the use of new technologies for terrorist purposes.

On 20-21 May, the headquarters of the IPA CIS will host discussions on the possibilities of deradicalization and social reintegration of individuals involved in terrorist and extremist organizations. The agenda will also include the legislative regulation of AI use for counter-terrorism purposes and the prevention of radicalism and extremism.

The meeting took place within the framework of the 16th Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the chairmanship of which has been assumed by Bahrain.
