University of Charleston Earns National Recognition in 2027 U.S. News Rankings

The University of Charleston continues to gain national recognition as enrollment grows and the University expands opportunities for students.

In the newly released 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, UC ranked No. 73 out of 158 Regional Universities in the South and No. 36 among private schools in the category.

The recognition comes during a period of sustained growth for UC. Enrollment has reached approximately 3,000 students for the third consecutive year, while undergraduate enrollment on the Charleston campus has climbed to a five-year high and residential enrollment is at its highest level in a decade.

"We're seeing students choose UC for different reasons, but there is a common thread," Beth Wolfe, Executive Vice President of Enrollment Management, said. "They want an education that prepares them for a career, faculty who know and support them, and a university community where they feel like they belong, all at a price that works for them. Our job is to keep delivering on those expectations while finding new ways to meet students where they are and prepare them for where they want to go."

The U.S. News recognition is the latest in a series of national accolades for UC. The University was also recently named the Best College in West Virginia by Niche for the second year in a row, continuing a growing list of recognitions for academic quality, value and student outcomes.

Together, the rankings and enrollment growth reflect a University that is attracting more students while remaining focused on its mission to educate each student for a life of productive work, enlightened living, and community involvement.

U.S. News ranks colleges and universities based on their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence, with student outcomes accounting for the largest share of the ranking methodology.
