DGA Statement on Kansas GOP Primary Results

DGA Statement on Kansas GOP Primary Results

DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper released the following statement in response to Ty Masterson becoming the Republican nominee for governor in Kansas:

"After a messy and expensive primary, Ty Masterson emerges deeply damaged and even further out of step with Kansans. His far-right record includes opposing Medicaid expansion, backing reckless tariffs that are crushing Kansas farmers and small businesses, and voting to gut funding for Kansas schools. On top of that, he's caught in a new scandal over his no-show job at a local university that paid him over $1.1 million - even though no one who works there can place him and the university has no employment contract with him.

"Kansans are looking for steady, common sense leadership, not a far-right extremist like Ty Masterson who would return to the chaos of the Brownback years - and that's why voters will reject him this November."
