Alumna CFO Sara Murph named to Georgia Trend’s '40 Under 40'

G eorgia College & State University alumna Sara Murph, CPA ('11) was named to Georgia Trend's annual '40 Under 40' list. Murph earned her MBA from GCSU and is the Chief Financial Officer for Parrish Construction Group.

"After earning my undergraduate degree in accounting, I wanted to broaden my perspective through an MBA," Murph said. "Georgia College & State University gave the tools to not only grow as a leader, but to also meet my requirements for my CPA license."

Murph has worked for Parrish for more than 10 years. She had a lead role in Parrish's 'We Build Great' brand campaign and has overseen more than 300 projects totaling over $2 billion in revenue for the company.

In addition to her professional accolades, Murph contributes hundreds of volunteer hours to local organizations and causes in Perry, Georgia.

"Sara is a shining example of an alumna who truly embodies Georgia College's core values of service, leadership and collaboration. Through her innovative spirit and dedication, she continues to make a lasting, positive impact in her community," said Nadirah Mayweather, director of Alumni Engagement at GCSU.

"We are thrilled to celebrate this well-deserved honor and proud to call her a fellow Bobcat!" Mayweather added.

Her employer said in a LinkedIn post congratulating Murph, "This recognition highlights her leadership, vision and dedication to building great at Parrish Construction Group."

Murph got her start in banking and finance as a teller after high school and says it took hard work and faith to realize her leading role in one of Georgia largest construction companies.

"I am honored to be recognized on the 40 Under 40, and thankful for the foundation GCSU provided me," Murph said. "Go Bobcats!"

Georgia Trend recognizes the 40 Under 40 in Georgia for their achievements and service to others in their workplace and community. Last year, three GCSU alumni were named to the annual list.
