Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis visits Units and Surveillance Outposts in Supreme Military Command of Thrace Area of Responsibility

On Tuesday, 30 December 2025, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Thanasis Davakis, visited Units and Surveillance Outposts in the Area of Responsibility of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace in order to exchange wishes with the personnel and enlisted soldiers in view of the New Year's celebrations.

The Deputy Minister, accompanied by the Chief/HNDGS, General Dimitrios Choupis, and the Chief/HAGS, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, in the presence of the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace, Lieutenant General Panagiotis Kavidopoulos, visited the XVI Mechanised Infantry Division in Didymotichon, Surveillance Outpost "5", Surveillance Outpost "PYTHIO IRON BRIDGE", Observational Outpost "PETALO PEPLOU", and the XII Mechanised Infantry Division in Evros.

Mr. Davakis, following the end of the visit, stated the following:

"I am here in Evros, in view of the New Year's celebrations, to express my frank gratitude to the Officers and enlisted men who daily fulfil a mission of utmost national importance.

With professionalism, discipline, and high morale, our frontiersmen protect our borders, and, in conditions of constant readiness, form the nucleus of our national deterrence. Their presence on the border is a guarantee of national sovereignty and stability.

I wish them strength, good health, and a safe, peaceful, and creative new year.
