Celebrate Hispanic heritage at City Hall on Sept. 16

Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month in the lobby of Fort Worth City Hall from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, just ahead of the evening City Council meeting.

Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy traditional music, ballet folklorico performances, food and displays by community organizations and vendors.

At 6 p.m., Fort Worth City Council will present a proclamation in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and local organizations that have reached milestone anniversaries. Recognitions will take place in the Council Chamber.

A taste of Fort Worth Hispanic culture will be provided by Don Goyo, Don Artemio, Toro Toro, Casa Azul, Tortas Ahogadas de Guadalajara, Polanco Restaurant, Cafe Chadra, Paleteria Nochistlense, Los Pastores and Los Vaqueros.

Entertainment will be provided by Ballet Folklorico Azteca, Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth, Tiffany Rodriguez, Nuestras Raíces fashion show, Mariachi de la Gran Plaza de Fort Worth, the World Languages Institute-Estudiantina and Ropers from Mexico en La Sangre.

Exhibitors include Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Northside; Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, Fort Worth Chapter; Kimbell Art Museum; Nuestro Kimbell; Fort Worth Botanic Garden ¡Celebramos!; TCU Athletics Ranas Initiative; Coleccion Mexicana-Sundance Square; La Vaquera Committee of the National Cowgirl Museum, Fort Worth Sister Cities' Toluca Committee and Celebro Sano.

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. It is a time to appreciate and celebrate the colorful cultures, rich histories and diversity of the American Latino community.
