Expansion of Point-of-Service Collections

MaineGeneral Expands Point-of-Service Collections

MaineGeneral Health is committed to being here for you and your family. As health care changes, we're adapting to meet challenges - preserving high-quality health care locally now and for years to come.

This spring, MaineGeneral Medical Center began providing insured patient estimates for expected patient out of pocket costs related to some scheduled services. A patient's share of costs of their care includes any copays, deductibles and co-insurance.

The updated collections process applies to scheduled services such as surgery, outpatient procedures like injections, imaging and select clinic-based care.

Under the new process, patients can better understand their expected out of pocket costs and options for making financial arrangements ahead of services. This initiative reflects MaineGeneral's commitment to transparency and patient-centered care by providing clear, upfront cost estimates before scheduled services.

Our goal is to reduce unexpected expenses, minimize post-service billing disputes and help patients plan and budget for care with confidence. By knowing costs in advance, patients can avoid financial surprises, explore payment options and focus on their health rather than billing concerns.
