Hawks Soar for More, Smashing Records on Day of Giving

That's a new record-and it wasn't the only one. University alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends came together to Soar for More, raising $626,650 to support the programs, scholarships, and activities that are most meaningful for them. Both donors and dollars were up 13% from last year.

Alumni made up 38% of this year's donors, by far the largest share. Many also pledged to match the contributions of their fellow donors dollar-for-dollar for funds such as the President's Fund for Reimagining Excellence. Dozens of matches and challenges fueled the excitement of the day.

The money raised helps UHart continue to invest in innovative academic programs, hands-on learning opportunities, and state-of-the-art facilities-like the donor-supported outdoor athletics and recreation complex named in honor of UHart basketball legend Vin Baker, which is scheduled to open in the fall.

But Day of Giving is also about building the community that makes the University of Hartford such a special place to be. Whether on campus or at nearby venues like alumni-owned Alvarium Brewery, Hawks past and present got to connect over food and drinks, share UHart stories, collect Day of Giving merch, and further a culture of philanthropy that continues year-round.
