The Innovate Fund, a community development entity, has made an investment to serve the Town of Tazewell, Virginia. The investment supports the construction of an 11,773 square foot Medical Office Building that will deliver primary health care services to the community.
U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA), Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, issued the following statement:
"This investment, made by the Innovate Fund and supported by the New Markets Tax Credit which I voted to extend and make permanent this year, will address a shortage of primary care providers and create greater access to health care services in the area."
BACKGROUND
The New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) was set to expire in 2025. However, Republicans in Congress this year permanently extended the credits by passing the reconciliation package, now known as the Working Families Tax Credit. Congressman Griffith supported the reconciliation package.
Tazewell Community Foundation Board Chairman Chris Wearmouth credited financing through the NMTC to make this investment possible.
