Kansas City, MO (March 25, 2026) - The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) has selected KL2 Connects, LLC, a firm headquartered in North Carolina, to lead the official search process for the agency's next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The KCATA issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to secure an executive search firm to assist in identifying a new CEO that will lead KCATA. Six proposals were received, and following a competitive evaluation process, three firms were selected for interviews. After careful consideration, KL2 Connects, LLC, was selected.
KL2 Connects serves the public transportation sector exclusively, bringing a deep understanding of industry challenges, emerging trends, and best practices that align with KCATA's mission. The firm also offers more than 250 years of combined public transit experience among its team. The KCATA Board of Commissioners will remain actively engaged throughout the search process to ensure the selection of a highly qualified leader who will help advance the agency's commitment to serving the Kansas City region.
"We look forward to working with KL2 Connects to conduct a thorough, transparent search," said Board Chair Bridgette Williams. "The selected individual will be pivotal to building a strong regional transit system that serves both sides of the state line. The entire KCATA Board of Commissioners is committed to this process."
The KCATA is governed by a 10-member Board of Commissioners, five from Missouri and five from Kansas. Commissioners are limited to two consecutive four-year terms. The Board is responsible for adopting all general policies of the Authority, including the adoption of annual capital and operating budgets, establishing strategic direction and goals for the Authority, approval of significant agreements and contracts, and the selection of a President/CEO.
