SGMC Health Names Thomas Director of Nursing

SGMC Health announces the promotion of Stefanie Thomas to Director of Nursing. In this role, she will oversee medical-surgical nursing units at SGMC Health Smith Northview as well as the Medical Oncology Medical-Surgical unit at SGMC Health Main.

Thomas recently stepped into the role with extensive experience, a strong commitment to patient care, and a proven ability to develop and support high-performing teams. Her leadership now spans multiple campuses, strengthening continuity and excellence across these critical inpatient services.

With nearly 21 years of service to SGMC Health, Thomas's career reflects steady growth and dedication. She began her nursing journey after earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credentials from North Florida College and later advanced to Registered Nurse (RN) in 2015. Her career progression includes roles as staff LPN, staff RN, Patient Care Coordinator, and Nurse Manager on the Medical Oncology unit, where she demonstrated consistent leadership grounded in accountability, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

"I am incredibly excited to accept this role and continue growing alongside such a dedicated and talented team," Thomas said. "I am passionate about fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence in patient care. I look forward to supporting our staff, strengthening our teams, and driving positive outcomes for both our patients and our organization."

Outside of work, Thomas is the mother of two daughters, Paisley and Ragan, who inspire her daily.
