Interstate 474 resurfacing east of the Illinois River in North Pekin is underway

NORTH PEKIN - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a resurfacing project on Interstate 474 between the east side of the Illinois River and the Interstate 74 interchange is underway.

The project will require lane closures on I-474, and the work is expected to be completed by September.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
