(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) announced $250,000 in grants for 25 community-based organizations to provide healing services for families and violence prevention for residents most at risk. Through these grants, organizations will creatively address the root causes of violence, promote community engagement, and foster a safer and more resilient environment across the District.
Services offered to residents with the support of these grants includes emotional regulation, conflict resolution, building communication skills, and behavioral support. Other services will support healing through therapeutic arts, peer-led grief groups, mentorship, health and wellness activities, and financial literacy. A list of the FY25 awardees is available here.
"Our work is only possible through strong partnerships with community-based organizations," said Executive Director Kwelli Sneed. "By working together, we expand opportunities to heal, strengthen public safety, and create lasting solutions that benefit families, residents, and businesses across the District while advancing the Mayor's vision for a safer, stronger DC."
