Regional Situation: In epidemiological week 30, influenza activity in the Region of the Americas continues to trend downward. Low levels of circulation are observed in North America. The Caribbean and Central America continue to show low activity, although with an upward trend, with positivity rates of 9.6% and 9.9%, respectively. The Andean Region shows a stable trend, with a positivity rate of 6.4%. In contrast, Brazil and the Southern Cone are experiencing a sustained decline in activity, with a positivity rate of 10.7% in EW30. Regionally, influenza B is the predominant virus, accounting for 50.8% of all influenza-positive samples. In the Caribbean and in Brazil and the Southern Cone, influenza type B is the predominant strain detected, while in Central America and the Andean Region, influenza A(H3N2) is the predominant strain detected. RSV is showing an upward trend, primarily in Central America and in Brazil and the Southern Cone. Meanwhile, SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains stable and at low levels in most subregions, except for the Caribbean, where the positivity rate reaches 8.2%. Hospitalizations for severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) and outpatient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI) are showing a downward trend in all subregions.
