Since Reading is Totally Rad, the Grand Prairie Libraries invite you to join our '80s-themed Summer Reading Club, this summer from May 30 through August 8.
This annual program is designed to encourage readers of all ages to dive into books throughout the summer months. The club is open to readers (and listeners) of all ages, from babies to adults. We have programs and incentives tailored for each age group.
Starting May 30, track all your reading through Beanstack, our easy-to-use online reading platform. Get started at gptx.beanstack.org. Kids earn prizes as they read throughout the summer, and teens and adults earn entries into our prize drawings.
We start the summer with a Reading is Totally Rad Kickoff Party, on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Main Library. Kick off the most tubular summer ever as the library transforms into an '80s-inspired mall! Explore a toddler play area, wear your '80s best and snap pics in our DIY portrait studio, create retro art, get airbrush tattoos, meet some of your favorite heroes and more.
Join us each Friday at your nearest library for our special children's programs, many with special guest performers. No programs June 19 (Juneteenth) or July 3 (Independence Day eve).
We also have a special evening program at each library. Learn more about our Summer Nights programs.
The Summer Reading Club will culminate in a Neon Glow End-of-Summer Party on Thursday, August 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Main Library. Wear your brightest colors and enjoy glow-in-the-dark games, neon crafts, music, and more.
