Jacobs is serving as owner's engineer for the Clandeboye Solar Farm - Lodestone Energy Limited's first utility-scale solar farm in New Zealand's South Island. Located in Canterbury, the project builds on Jacobs' role in Lodestone's solar developments in the North Island, ensuring continuity of personnel, systems and engineering knowledge as Lodestone expands into the South.
The appointment reflects our continued collaboration with Lodestone and marks an important step toward delivering reliable, low-cost renewable energy to the region. Once fully operational, the farm will generate 43 GWh of renewable electricity annually − enough to power about 6,000 homes.
As the owner's engineer, Jacobs is providing technical oversight throughout construction. Our scope of services includes:
Our experienced team includes Christchurch-based team members with deep familiarity of local environmental and permitting conditions. They bring in-depth knowledge of Lodestone projects, flexible delivery, digital tools and a collaborative "one team" ethos alongside Lodestone and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor Ethical Power New Zealand.
The success of the Clandeboye project will lay the foundation for the rollout of additional sites. With construction underway and commissioning expected in Q3 2026, we look forward to continuing to support Lodestone Energy in bringing new solar capacity online, advancing the energy transition in New Zealand / Aotearoa.
