ALHAMBRA, CA - Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra) announced that several of his priority bills have successfully passed the Assembly and now advance to the California State Senate for consideration. These measures reflect his commitment to expanding educational opportunities, strengthening workforce development, and supporting marginalized communities across California.
"I am proud that my legislative bill package reflects a commitment to expanding opportunities for students, workers, and families across California," said Assemblymember Mike Fong. "Together, they represent an approach to strengthening communities and ensuring Californians have the resources needed to thrive."
Among the bills moving forward are:
AB 2374 - AANHPI Serving Institution Designation
AB 2374 establishes a state-level designation for Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANHPI-Serving Institutions) to recognize public and private postsecondary institutions that demonstrate a commitment to supporting the success of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students.
AB 2466 - Strong Workforce Program
AB 2466 expands paid work-based learning opportunities that help students gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers in high-demand industries.
AB 1871 - Expanding Dual Enrollment Opportunities
AB 1871 reforms the College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Program by removing barriers to participation and expanding access for students to earn college credit while still in high school.
AB 2329 - Caltrans 710 Housing Properties
AB 2329 updates procedures governing the sale of surplus residential properties within the State Route 710 corridor and establishes a process for the City of South Pasadena to offer surplus homes to current tenants, helping provide greater housing stability for residents.
Assemblymember Fong will continue advocating for policy that expand educational opportunities, strengthen California's workforce, support housing stability, and create pathways to success for communities throughout the state.
