Napa County receives two awards for excellence in financial reporting

NAPA COUNTY - Napa County has received two awards for financial reporting for fiscal year 2023-24, including the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Report from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the Award for Excellence in Reporting Accurate Financial Data for County Financial Transactions Reporting from the State Controller's Office. This is the 20th and 25th consecutive years that Napa County has received the GFOA and State Controller's Office awards.

To qualify for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, a report must receive the unanimous approval by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program. The criteria includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

For the Award for Excellence in Reporting Accurate Financial Data for County Financial Reporting, agencies must submit a report as required by the state for all financial transactions throughout the year. Napa County is one of 46 counties who have received this distinction.

"I would like to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication from the team in the Auditor's Office, along with the fiscal staff throughout the County departments," said Napa County Auditor-Controller Tracy Schulze. "Both awards are great accomplishments and an enormous team effort of public servants to provide integrity and accountability to the taxpayers for which we serve."
