Kansas has built a career that has spanned five decades and become one of America's most iconic classic rock bands. The Topeka, Kansas, "garage band" released its debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for music executive Don Kirshner. The band has since sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.
The band's signature songs include quadruple-platinum "Carry on Wayward Son," which remains one of the most-played songs on classic rock radio, and triple-platinum "Dust in the Wind."

Its live album "Two for the Show" also went platinum. In 2020, Kansas released "The Absence of Presence," its 16th studio album, which debuted at No. 10 on Billboard's Top Current Albums chart. The album followed 2016's "The Prelude Implicit," which debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200.
Kansas has also celebrated "Leftoverture" and "Point of Know Return" with extensive anniversary tours, each accompanied by a live album. "Leftoverture Live & Beyond" was released in 2017, followed by "Point of Know Return Live & Beyond" in 2021.
The band has spent decades performing to sold-out arenas and stadiums across North America, Europe and Japan. Kansas appeared on the Billboard charts for more than 200 weeks throughout the 1970s and 1980s, cementing its place among the era's most influential classic rock acts.
