Rockhampton Regional Council advises the community that temporary Weed Booms are being used in the Fitzroy River between the Fitzroy Barrage and Eden Bann Weir to help trap and control Salvinia and other invasive aquatic weeds.
The booms are only used when needed and may be moved to different locations as conditions change. Initial locations include Limestone Creek (near The Pocket) and Lion Creek.
If you are on the river, please navigate with care. The booms will be clearly marked with yellow buoys and flashing yellow lights.
If you see a damaged or free-floating Weed Boom, please contact Council's Customer Service Centre on 4932 9000.
Council thanks the community for their cooperation while these important weed management works are carried out.
