Great News for Yuma Elementary School District One!

This week, I was pleased to inform officials in Yuma that the Yuma Elementary School District One has received a federal grant for over $8 million to replace the James D. Price Elementary School located on Yuma Proving Ground.

The new school will have a kitchen to prepare hot lunches as well as a larger auditorium for indoor structured activities and dedicated art and music rooms. The school will also have a more modern layout to improve security and the overall student experience. Over 125 military students, who live near the base or whose parents commute to it, will attend the new school.

Funding for this grant is provided under the Department of Defense's Public Schools on Military Installations Program. In making these funds available, the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation must give priority consideration to military installations that have schools with the most serious facility capacity and condition deficiencies, as determined by the Priority List.

Every child deserves a safe and supportive place to learn. Strong schools are the foundation of a strong community. This significant investment will give students the space and facilities they need to thrive. Construction is expected to begin in February 2026.

Congress Holds Important Hearing to Delist the Mexican Wolf

Several weeks ago I introduced legislation delisting the Mexican wolf from the Endangered Species Act and delinking its populations in the United States and Mexico. This week, the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries on which I serve held a legislative hearing on this important bill.

Since being reintroduced to the wild in Arizona, Mexican wolves have significantly grown in population, yet the wolf has remained on the Endangered Species list since 1982. In fact, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declared in 2024 that the Mexican wolf population had nearly doubled its recovery goal in the United States. Additionally, another 350 Mexican wolves are currently being housed in captive breeding facilities.

Unfortunately, rural communities in Arizona are facing the grave consequences from the uncontrolled and unmanaged Mexican wolf population as they prey on cattle, horses, elk, sheep and even family pets, causing significant financial losses and economic hardship on family-run ranches.

Now a stable population, the Mexican wolf should be delisted. This week's legislative hearing is the next step in ensuring my legislation is brought to the House floor for a vote. Click here to read more about this hearing.

Gosar Sponsors Legislation to Criminalize Youth Gender Mutilation

This week, I sponsored H.R.3492, the Protect Children's Innocence Act, legislation that will codify President Trump's recent executive order,

"Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation" that protects kids from barbaric genital mutilation surgeries under the guise of so-called 'gender-affirming care'" and seeks to criminalize such procedures. This legislation criminalizes genital mutilation, chemical castration, and all sex-change procedures performed on children.Medical evidence points to the fact that so-called gender transition procedures, including puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries, are a form of genital mutilation. Unfortunately, left-wing activists and medical institutions are targeting our children with dangerous drugs, disfiguring surgeries, and permanent sterilization. This bill stops the mutilation of kids and holds those responsible for performing or facilitating these barbaric procedures accountable.

The Tariff Ruling: What It Means and What's Next

A federal appeals court recently ruled that key tariffs imposed by President Trump and issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) aren't authorized by that statute. The decision keeps the tariffs in place for now until the U.S. Supreme Court considers the case on an expedited basis.

I will share my concern. For eight years under Obama and four years under Biden the courts were silent as Obama ordered the drone killing of American citizens who were never charged much less convicted of any crime. The courts were silent as governments shut down places of worship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The courts were silent as Biden intentionally let in over 20 million illegal aliens, compensated drug cartels for their transportation, paid for food, lodging, education and health care to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars despite none of it being authorized by Congress. The Courts were silent or complicit as Americans were jailed on obscene charges for protesting an election. The courts were silent as Americans were arrested for not wearing a useless mask. The courts were silent as the Biden family engaged in open corruption and bribery from Ukraine and China. The courts stood silent as the sham J6 Committee destroyed evidence that exonerated people, and the courts participated in the illegal raid on Mar-a-Lago. It goes on.

In short, now under President Trump we see ruling after ruling suddenly claiming the President can't do this and can't do that. It's getting tiresome. The court system has clowned itself and nobody has faith in it. In fact, recently over a dozen leftist judges were openly complaining that their illegal actions were reversed by the Supreme Court. Polls on Americans' views of the courts show an all-time low and for good reason.

For the record, the court panel read the IEEPA as allowing many emergency trade actions, but not a broad power to impose ongoing tariffs without clear, specific authorization from Congress. Of course, until now no court had reached that conclusion. The administration is still pursuing targeted exemptions and bilateral alignments to strengthen U.S. industry while the legal fight plays out.

We expect arguments at the Supreme Court to be centered on restoring presidential flexibility to defend American producers, combat unfair trade, and attack fentanyl-linked supply chains-core themes behind President Trump's tariff program.

No matter how this ends, this is a legal technicality, not a repudiation of strong trade. The court said Congress must speak more clearly; it didn't say America shouldn't defend itself from predatory trade.

If needed, Congress can pass explicit authority for targeted emergency tariffs, so President Trump has the tools to protect America. That is precisely the clarity the appellate court said was missing in IEEPA. I am reviewing the options of what has been proposed already and whether I need to prepare a bill to assist the President. I will keep you updated on this important development.

Gosar Gets Around Town!

It was busy in Washington, D.C. but later in the week I was able to get out of the Swamp and tour Rinchem's newest facility in Surprise, Arizona. Rinchem is a global leader in chemical supply chain management and recently opened the custom-built hazmat warehouse in Surprise, Arizona. This state-of-the-art facility, boasting 123,516 square feet and 16,000 pallet positions, allows Rinchem to strategically support the booming semiconductor industry in the Phoenix Metro Area.

While in Surprise, I also had the opportunity to tour Heelex Medical Center, a new comprehensive healthcare facility that specializes in high-energy X ray, general medicine, podiatry and benign disease therapy. Many thanks to everyone who helped make these tours a success. I am grateful for your contributions to our community and appreciate your investment in Surprise!
