WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood released a statement following his meeting with the Ambassador of Denmark, Jesper Sorensen, and the Head of Greenland Representation, Jacob Isbosethsen, in his D.C. Office.
"In the last hour, I met with the Ambassador of Denmark and the Head of Greenland Representation to discuss the longstanding ties between our nations and the NATO alliance. The people of Denmark and Greenland are ready and willing to continue our partnership in the Arctic to counter growing Russian and Chinese threats. After meeting with their representatives, I am confident that Secretary of State Marco Rubio can navigate a diplomatic win-win solution with one of our finest allies.
The representatives expressed an openness to discuss any measure that would enhance the security of the United States, while respecting the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark. President Trump said it best during last year's address to Congress: 'I also have a message… for the incredible people of Greenland. We strongly support your right to determine your own future, and if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America.' May our countries continue to enjoy an enduring friendship as ties grow and flourish for years to come."
