Chinese Consulate General in Erbil Hosts Thematic Seminar for Celebrating “International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations”

On June 17, 2026, the Chinese Consulate General in Erbil and the Global Civilization Initiative Research Center jointly hosted a thematic seminar for celebrating the "International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations in Erbil. The event was attended by Chinese Consul General Liu Jun, along with over 300 participants including guests from various sectors of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, representatives of political parties from Iraq, Jordan, as well as some Chinese scholars and experts.

At the opening ceremony, all participants watched a video speech by H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Liu Jun stated in his remarks that Chinese and Kurdish civilizations share a long history and common cultural heritage. President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Civilization Initiative, contributing Chinese wisdom on dialogue, inclusiveness, exchange, and mutual learning to the world. China is willing to work with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) to actively implement the Global Civilization Initiative and further deepen people-to-people ties between the two sides. In their remarks, the foreign guests highly praised China's active advocacy of mutual learning among civilizations and expressed their hope to further strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation with China.

During the seminar, participants exchanged views on promoting dialogue among civilizations under the new era and deepening cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and KRI. A photography exhibition and cultural performances were also held during the seminar.
