GVSU offers seamless transitions for displaced Siena Heights students

Grand Valley will offer seamless transitions to students at Siena Heights University who wish to continue their degree plans after that institution closes.

The 105-year-old university in Adrian will close after the 2025-2026 academic year. About 1,855 students are enrolled at Siena Heights.

The agreement between the two institutions, initially announced last July, guarantees admission to GVSU for Siena Heights students who are in good academic standing. Grand Valley will waive admissions and orientation fees for eligible students.

B. Donta Truss, vice president for Enrollment Development and College Futures, said the agreement calls for full acceptance of transfer credits at the 100 level or above and provides scholarship support for up to $6,000 per year.

"This agreement demonstrates GVSU's commitment to supporting Michigan students during institutional transitions and reinforces our role as a regional leader in accessible, high-quality education," Truss said. "It also reflects our shared mission with SHU around student success and relationship-centered learning."

Robust online and hybrid programs are available through GVSU Omni for students who prefer those styles of learning.

SHU students and supporters can visit the SHU to GVSU admissions website to learn details or call the Admissions and Recruitment office at (616) 331-2025.
