Colleagues,
On Saturday, June 6, I was proud to attend the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Academy commencement ceremony to celebrate the graduating class of 2026. On this special occasion we were joined by Chief Terry Paul, Membertou First Nation; Mike Kelloway, Member of Parliament for Sydney-Glace Bay and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport and Internal Trade; David Dingwall, President and Vice Chancellor of Cape Breton University; Paul Heaver, President of the Conway Club; and many members of the CCG executive team. The ceremony honoured the 58 Officers graduating from the four-year Officer Training Program.

While this is the first class of Officers to graduate from the Academy since CCG joined the Defence Team, they step forward as part of a proud and enduring tradition, continuing more than six decades of excellence in maritime education and service. As this legacy continues to evolve, we recognize the many CCG professionals who have come before them, each contributing to the safety and security of Canada's waters.
To the Class of 2026: Congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Your leadership will help foster a culture grounded in teamwork, respect, and excellence. I wish you every success in what will be a meaningful, challenging, and rewarding journey with the CCG. Your dedication, resilience, and commitment will shape the future of the organization and serve you well in the years ahead.
Bravo Zulu!
