Prime Minister and the President of the United States of America sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand Concerning Cooperation to Diversify Global Critical Minerals Supply Chains and Promote Investments

On 26 October 2025, H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, and The Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand Concerning Cooperation to Diversify Global Critical Minerals Supply Chains and Promote Investments, on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The MoU aims to promote cooperation to diversify the global critical minerals supply chains and investments between Thailand and the United States. It will help develop the critical minerals supply chain through the sharing of information, knowledge and technical expertise. The MOU will promote trade and investment in critical mineral resource exploration, extraction, processing and refining, and recycling and recovery. It will also encourage investments that support domestic value addition and support the transition to open and transparent markets. Investments and cooperation include technology transfer, capacity building and training of personnel.

The MoU will promote economic cooperation and partnership with the United States, as well as Thailand's inclusion in the supply chain of other strategic industries related to critical minerals such as the semiconductor and high technology industries. This is part of an effort to create a conducive environment for modern investments and to enhance Thailand's capabilities, all of which are in line with the Government's economic policies.
