Authentic Thai Gastronomy with 2-Michelin-Star Chef Chumpol – KaDeWe Kitchen Takeover

Authentic Thai Gastronomy with 2-Michelin-Star Chef Chumpol - KaDeWe Kitchen Takeover

Berlin, September 24-25, 2025. The Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin, in collaboration with KaDeWe, proudly presented "Authentic Thai Gastronomy with 2-Michelin-Star Chef Chumpol" at Brasserie Hélène, KaDeWe's 6th floor.

Presided over by H.E. Mr. Chittipat Tongprasroeth, Ambassador of Thailand to Germany, the event highlighted Thai cuisine's growing global prominence. He described Thai food as a cultural ambassador, balancing flavors, harmonizing traditions, and reflecting the resilience of the Thai people in adapting to challenges while preserving their identity. The Ambassador further underlined gastronomy's role as a pillar of Thailand's Soft Power strategy. Beyond its taste, Thai cuisine fosters cultural understanding, builds lasting connections, and showcases Thailand's innovative approaches in cooking, presentation, and food products - bringing Thailand closer to Berlin and the world.

At the heart of the program was Chef Chumpol Jangprai, co-founder and chef-owner of Bangkok's two-Michelin-starred R-Haan. Renowned for blending tradition with innovation, he curated a three-part menu:

● Ancient Thai Menu -heritage recipes preserved with authenticity;

● Authentic Thai Menu - embodying Thailand's rich culinary identity;

● Innovative Thai Menu - showcasing sustainability, creativity, and the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy.

By championing seasonal, locally sourced, and responsibly used ingredients, Chef Chumpol demonstrated how Thai gastronomy simultaneously honors heritage and embraces modern sustainability, linking food with biodiversity, circular resource use, and green innovation.

The two-day program opened with a networking dinner reception on 24 September, followed by a special Thai lunch and dinner on 25 September, where ticketed guests enjoyed a rare opportunity to savor Michelin-starred creations direct from Bangkok.

More than 60 distinguished participants from diplomatic corps, government, business, culture, press, and gastronomy attended the event. Among other guests H.E. Gunther Krichbaum, Minister of State for Europe, FFO, also attended as special guest on the first night of the event. The gathering highlighted how Thai cuisine, rooted in heritage yet open to innovation, serves as a bridge between peoples, strengthens Thai-German relations, and enhances Thailand's international profile.

Through this initiative, the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Thailand's Soft Power and deepening Thai-German exchange in culture, gastronomy, and innovation.
