San Diego Police Department Receives $1.5 Million for Expansion of Human Trafficking Efforts

SACRAMENTO, CA. - Assemblymember Tasha Boerner (D-Encinitas) was able to secure $1.5 million from the 2026-2027 state budget for the San Diego Police Department's to expand its efforts to combat human trafficking. These funds will be used to support ongoing operations, logistics, and equipment to identify human trafficking victims.

"Human trafficking ruins families and communities, and it traumatizes survivors who had to live with a horrific reality," stated Assemblymember Boerner. "Every dollar will help our law enforcement save the lives of those affected by human trafficking and identify those predatory offenders exploiting our most vulnerable community members."

"Keeping people safe is my number one job as Mayor. Human trafficking is a horrific crime that preys on vulnerable people, and there is no place for it in our city," said San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. "This $1.5 million state investment will strengthen the San Diego Police Department's ability to identify traffickers, hold them accountable and connect survivors with the support they need to rebuild their lives.
