"The New York State Board of Regents and Commissioner Betty A. Rosa mourn the passing of former Assemblymember Cathy Nolan, a fierce advocate for children, public education, and the promise of opportunity for all New Yorkers.

For decades, Assemblymember Nolan was a steadfast champion for equity, access, and excellence in education. As Chair of the Assembly Education Committee, she worked tirelessly to strengthen our schools, support educators, and ensure that every student, regardless of background or zip code, had the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Her leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to New York's students will leave a lasting legacy in classrooms and communities across our state. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of working alongside her in service to the people of New York."
