The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Dan Ekholm as Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and Communications in Berlin from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2029.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Dan Ekholm as Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and Communications for a new three-year term at Finland's Embassy in Berlin starting on 1 August.

Ekholm served as Press Counsellor in Berlin between 2023 and 2026. During his career, he has gained extensive experience in working in the media sector. He has worked as Editor at the newspaper Vasabladet, Europe correspondent for the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle in Berlin, EU correspondent for the Swedish-language news service Svenska Yle in Brussels, news editor, journalist, as well as Scandinavian correspondent for Svenska Yle in Stockholm.

He has also worked as Press Counsellor at Finland's Embassy in Stockholm and as Chief Information Officer for the Swedish People's Party of Finland. He has studied journalism at the Swedish School of Social Science of the University of Helsinki.
