Notice of 2026 Election for City Officials
Notice is hereby given that a General Municipal Election and a Special Municipal Election will be held in the City of Santa Maria on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to elect the following officers and Measure:
For Member of City Council (District 1) Unexpired term ending Nov 2028
For Member of City Council (District 3) Full term of four years
For Member of City Council (District 4) Full term of four years

MEASURE C2026 CITY OF SANTA MARIA GENERAL SERVICES. Maintain and enhance community services including parks and recreation, the aquatic center, library, youth programs, and roads and streets, to improve quality of life; shall the measure be approved adopting an ordinance implementing Measure C2026 at the one-half cent rate until ended by voters, providing $13,000,000 annually that cannot be taken by Sacramento, requiring oversight, independent audits, with all funds used locally. |

The filing period for nomination papers begins July 13 through August 7, 2026. Nomination papers may be picked up and filed in the City Clerk's Office during the filing period. The Clerk's Office is in City Hall at 110 East Cook Street. City Hall is closed to the public on alternating Fridays, except for Friday, August 7th, when the Clerk's Office will be open to accept submission of nomination papers. Business hours for the Clerk's Office are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and alternating Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments are required to pull nomination papers by calling (805) 925-0951, extension 2306.
In the event an incumbent does not file nomination papers by August 7th (the last day to file), the nomination period for that office will be extended to Wednesday, August 12,

2026. Incumbent cannot file during the extended period. Per Elections Code §10225(a)(b).
If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by Elections Code §10229.
