Southwestern Community College's main entrance, turning north off of Townline Street/Highway 25 and entering on the south side of campus, will be closed for reconstruction this summer. During the construction phase, plan to access campus on the east side turning west from Green Valley Road onto either Southwestern Boulevard or Spartan Drive.
The project was identified as a priority during master facilities planning at the college. A portion of the cost, $123,183, is being allocated from Iowa's State Park and Institutional Roads program. The remainder of the funds will come from Fund 7, the college's plant fund.
Construction is underway on the skilled trades facility, located on Spartan Boulevard, directly north of the Performing Arts Center. Sidewalk improvements throughout campus will also be a part of summer construction at SWCC.
The main entrance and sidewalk projects are scheduled to be completed on or before August 14. Fall semester begins on August 24. Completion of the skilled trades facility is expected to be December 2026.
