AHN Division of Prehospital Care Services Launches New 'Paramedic Response Unit' in Beaver County

Press Releases

Community-based Paramedic Response Unit will work collaboratively with local EMS personnel to increase access to emergency medical care across rural communities

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2025) - Allegheny Health Network (AHN) has launched a new Paramedic Response Unit (PRU) in support of independent EMS agencies in Beaver County. Led by AHN Prehospital Care Services, the PRU will assist local agencies in providing enhanced emergency medical care to the region's residents.

The AHN PRU Medic 957 will be staffed by AHN paramedics who are Pennsylvania Department of Health-certified and capable of providing advanced life support.

The PRU staff will work collaboratively with the region's community-based EMS agencies to ensure an effective response to patient needs, particularly those requiring additional care or in mass casualty situations. Medic 957 will be stationed at New Sewickley Fire District in Beaver County.

"We are proud to collaborate with our community-based EMS colleagues to ensure the highest quality of care for patients across our region," said Bob Twaddle, vice president, AHN Prehospital Care Services. "We are so pleased to now serve the Beaver County community in this way."

The unit will mark the network's eighth PRU, with the first mobilized in 1988 in the Allegheny Valley region. Since then, AHN has launched other response units in Allegheny County, Fayette County, Westmoreland County and Butler County.

AHN Prehospital Care Services is composed of physician-led EMS medical direction, education, quality assurance, medical special operations, emergency medical services, critical care air and ground transport via LifeFlight, and EMS communications centers.
