Three City parking lots to be converted to mobile payment systems: Schumann, Market, Maiden Lane

Three metered parking lots will be converted to a mobile payment system the week of Aug. 10, 2026. The lots include:

• Schumann lot
  • North side of Market Street between Clinton and Dubuque streets.
• Market Street lot
  • North side of Market Street between Gilbert and Linn streets.
• Maiden Lane lot
  • West of Gilbert Street, south of Court Street, and north of Prentiss Street

The conversion will include the removal of existing meters and the installation of updated signage to inform users of the change. Rates for parking and time allowed in impacted parking spaces will not be changed due to the transition to mobile payments.

Lot signage will include a phone number residents can call to pay if they do not have a smartphone. A sample sign is shown below.

Customers can use the ParkMobile app or visit the ParkMobile Iowa City website by using QR code or text message to pay for parking in these lots.
