Major Crimes Unit seeks public assistance in locating vehicle involved in Wellington Crescent shooting investigation: C25-261837

On November 4, 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a news release regarding the arrest of 28-year-old Machuor Machar AKAU in relation to an aggravated assault involving a firearm which occurred on November 2 in the McMillan neighbourhood.

Major Crimes Unit investigators are requesting public assistance for any information regarding the location of a red 2019 Kia Sportage AKAU was operating immediately following the incident. Investigators believe the KIA was driven eastbound outside of city limits near Deacons Road and Transcona Highway and abandoned in the area. The vehicle may have been driven on service roads, municipal roads, and south east Manitoba community roadways before it was abandoned.

Vehicle description:

  • 2019 Kia Sportage
  • 4 DR, Red in color
  • Distinctive black decal striping on length of front and rear doors

If the vehicle is located, please do not approach the vehicle and notify investigators immediately.
