2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montréal: plan your travel to the Palais

From September 19 to 27, Montréal will be hosting the world's elite in road cycling. A major gathering that will shine a light on the metropolis around the world, but will also result in major traffic reroutes and parking changes, especially in the vicinity of the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

For one week, over 1,000 will compete in 13 events in the heart of Montréal's streets.

If you need to get to the Palais between September 19 and 27, we recommend you check traffic conditions before setting out each time. We also recommend public transit: the Palais des congrès is directly connected to the Place-d'Armes metro station, on the orange line.

  • Road closures and route maps
Consult the event's official page on getting around, in particular the interactive map on event-related road closures. This map presents, among other things, the locations and schedules of the road closures, the crossings and the walkways for each day of the event.
  • Public transit
During the event, certain Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus lines will be temporarily modified between September 13 and 27. For details on these changes, consult the STM's specific web page.
  • Realtime traffic
On the competition days, Waze and Google Maps can also be used to determine your itinerary based on the road closures in effect.
  • Questions regarding municipal services and circulation

What you need to know about the road closures:

  • The routes will vary each day based on the competitions: the restrictions and road closure times will be different from one day to the next.
  • The installation of fences along the routes will start early each morning, around 7 a.m. (variable depending on the competition schedule).
  • At the end of the competitions, the roads will reopen to traffic.

The UCI Road World Championships are the first event of this magnitude in Montréal in decades and will be an opportunity to see the best cyclists in the world working their magic on the streets of the metropolis. By planning your travel in advance, you can enjoy this major international gathering while getting to and from the Palais in the best conditions possible.
