West Nile Virus Positive Mosquito Sample Found in Burbank

West Nile Virus Positive Mosquito Sample Found in Burbank

The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (GLACVCD) has confirmed a positive West Nile Virus (WNV) mosquito sample in Burbank.

What does that mean? It simply means that mosquitoes carrying the virus have been identified in the area, and it's a good reminder to take simple steps that help reduce mosquito bites and keep our neighborhoods safe:

  • Eliminate standing water around your home.
  • Maintain pools, spas, and ponds.
  • Change water in pet dishes and birdbaths weekly.
  • Use insect repellent when outdoors.
  • Report neglected swimming pools to GLACVCD.
