Australian Industry Group welcomes Infrastructure Australia's focus on future‑ready infrastructure

Australian Industry Group welcomes Infrastructure Australia's newly released Infrastructure Priority List, and recognises its clear focus on positioning Australia's economy for the challenges of digitalisation, decarbonisation and diversification.

"Infrastructure Australia's prioritising list rightly focuses on the infrastructure Australia needs now and over the next decade to support a modern, low-emissions and increasingly digital economy," Chief Executive Innes Willox said.

"The emphasis on high-productivity freight networks, ports and supply chains, secure water for growth, and the delivery of a net zero and clean energy economy directly supports industry's need to decarbonise operations, diversify markets and adopt new technologies.

"Providing a clear pipeline of nationally significant projects would help governments and industry work together to address immediate infrastructure gaps while supporting long-term economic transformation.

"A predictable and well-sequenced infrastructure pipeline is critical to giving businesses the confidence to invest, innovate and create jobs. Infrastructure Australia's work provides clarity on where investment can deliver the greatest economic, social and environmental returns. As always, the challenge would be to complete the necessary build on time and on budget to deliver the proposed infrastructure pipeline.

"We look forward to continuing to work with Infrastructure Australia and governments to ensure infrastructure investment supports Australia's transition to a more productive, sustainable and diversified economy," Mr Willox said.
