USDA announces Butler, Lawrence counties included in disaster designation citing drought

BUTLER, PA -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced a disaster designation in Pennsylvania due to recent drought, including Butler and Lawrence counties.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, Butler and Lawrence counties are among those that have suffered from a drought intensity value during the growing season of:

  • 1) D2 Drought-Severe for eight or more consecutive weeks or
  • 2) D3 Drought-Extreme or D4 Drought-Exceptional

This designation also includes additional counties in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

The designated counties are listed in this letter.
