DNR Seeks Volunteers to Participate in Forest Health Advisory Committee

September 03, 2026

New Committee Members Will Advise Lands Commissioner on Key Policy to Create Healthier, More Resilient Forests

Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove is seeking volunteers to participate in the Department of Natural Resources' Forest Health Advisory Committee (FHAC). Committee members provide guidance and advice to the Commissioner on forest health conditions and solutions to help make Washington forests healthier and more resilient.

The committee helps inform and guide the successful implementation of the 20-Year Forest Health Strategic Plan through collaborative leadership and input from a variety of constituent groups, with the goal of continually improving and maintaining the health and resilience of Washington's forests for current and future generations.

The committee is co-chaired by a staff chair and an individual elected from the membership and consists of individuals from across the state, representing different constituencies. The committee also serves as Washington's State Forest Stewardship Coordinating Committee.

"This Committee's work is critical to ensure that all voices are heard as we shape the Forest Health policies that will benefit future generations," said Commissioner Upthegrove. "I've met so many Washingtonians who care deeply about the health of our forests, and I invite them to participate in shaping their future."
