Commission Ribbon-Cutting for G.C. Herring Park Set for Sept. 29

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 25, 2026) - The Charlotte County Commission has scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of improvements to G.C. Herring Park at 8 a.m., Sept. 29.

Phase I of the park improvements was funded through the 2020 1% local option sales tax and delivers a broad range of amenities designed to serve residents of all ages and interests. These enhancements include two age-specific playgrounds (for ages 2-5 and 5-12), a basketball court, tennis court, fitness hub, multi-purpose field, and a running/walking track. To further support community gatherings and recreational use, the park also features one large pavilion and two smaller pavilions.

The park is located at 3406 Indiana Road in Placida. The public is invited to attend.
