Wirral pulls together to make Christmas magical for more local children

Christmas morning will be brighter for thousands of children across Wirral thanks to the incredible kindness of local residents and businesses.

Since the appeal launched on November 14, Wirral Council's children's services team has been overwhelmed by generosity, receiving well over 2,000 gifts - the highest number since the Christmas Gift Appeal launched in 2020.

From newborn babies to teenagers, every gift has been carefully matched and delivered, meaning more local children will get to enjoy a Christmas treat.

The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Brian Kenny, visited the organisers at the appeal HQ in Rock Ferry to pass on his heartfelt thanks. He said:

This year's response has been nothing short of amazing. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated - residents, Council staff, schools, and community groups. Lots of local businesses and their employees and customers have also stepped up and been incredibly generous, with special thanks to Alpha Taxis, Cammell Laird, Heatons, MKM Building Supplies, and Tesco Bidston.

All of the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to collect, sort, and deliver gifts have been amazing, too.

Everyone's kindness means thousands more children will wake up to a little gift and the knowledge that someone in their community cares.

This record-breaking appeal shows what Wirral can achieve when we come together. Thank you for making a difference.
