LOS ANGELES, Calif. - [Date] - TCA-LA, part of the TCA Venture Group, today announced a successful exit for its angel investors, following the acquisition of Atraverse Medical by Johnson and Johnson ( NYSE:JNJ). In less than three years, the Atraverse exit delivered over a 70% internal rate of return( IRR), more than double the venture capital industry target IRR for early stage medtech companies.
Atraverse makes a novel radio-frequency(RF) guide wire that enables physicians to safely enter the left chamber of the heart during minimally invasive procedures such as cardiac ablations to treat atrial fibrillation.
"TCA Venture Group played an important role inAtraverse's' growth journey, providing valuable support at crucial stages and through multiple financing rounds," said John Slump, Co-Founder and former CEO of Atraverse. "Their early conviction, investor network, and continued engagement helped position the company for long-term success and contributed to this successful acquisition.
The outcome underscores TCA Venture Groups' commitment to identifying and supporting high-potential technology companies with strong growth prospects and strategic market value. TCA-LA Fund IV invested in Atraverse Medical, and several Tech Coast Venture members also invested directly including Dr. John Grant.
"Angel investing is about backing exceptional founders early and helping them reach meaningful outcomes," said deal lead, Dr John Grant of TCA-LA. "Atraverse's acquisition by Johnson & Johnson, represents a strong result for our investors and a testament to the company's execution, market relevance, and long-term vision."
