Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today released the following statement on the federal court rulings ordering the administration to release SNAP funds:

"Millions of working Americans depend on SNAP to feed their families and the emergency funds authorized by Congress should be deployed to backstop the program while the government is shutdown.

It should never take a court order to compel our government to prevent hunger. The continued efforts by the administration to block or delay these payments are a conscious and cruel choice - a weaponization of the safety net in pursuit of a political objective.

I'll continue to fight to reopen the government, keep healthcare costs from skyrocketing, and protect SNAP so no child, senior, or veteran goes hungry because of partisan games in Washington."
